Contribution to the Foundation
of the Foreign Missions Seminary
|
In the same prophetic dream where she had sensed that she would found a community of women for the missions, Delia Tétreault felt called to cooperate in the foundation of a similar project for men. After having solidly established her community, the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, she worked with all her strength at the foundation of the Foreign Missions Seminary. She achieved the arduous task of making people aware of the need and urgency of providing Canada with a Society of missionary priests. The Foreign Missions Society of Canada was officially founded on February 2, 1921 by the bishops and archbishops of Quebec. It has given numerous priests to the missionary Church and continues to give rise, both in Canada and elsewhere, to interest in and commitment to communicating the message of Christ so that it be known and lived out.
